Full course description
The Niitsitapi Proficiency Microcredential will provide an opportunity to reflect on the history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada, current terminology and the impacts of colonization. We will examine and celebrate Blackfoot culture and language and Blackfoot ways of knowing through local plants and creation stories. We can begin to re-examine the version of Canadian history we have been taught and, in so doing, discover how we can challenge the dominant narrative of settler colonialism in Canada.
The Niisitapi Proficiency microcredential is a self-paced, autograded mircocredential that features the following five modules:
- Truth and Reconciliation – Calls to Action
- Land Acknowledgement
- Learning from Place
- Blackfoot Language Introduction
- Indigenization and Decolonization at Lethbridge College
